| Abstract | The present paper aims at making clear how George Eliot attempted a reconciliation between Christian world＇s view and scientific rationalism. If we focus our attention to the text of Gwendolen, the heroine＇s matrimonial tragedy in Daniel Deronda, we become aware that the author＇s own view of human depravity is graphically illustrated through her insightful portrayal of the heroine＇s death in life in her marital impasse. The readers are invited to participate in the process of Gwendolen＇s youthful belief in free will turning into a bitter disappointment and disillusionment with life＇s reality. We recognize in this drama a plot of the protagonist＇s dawning sense of law through her suffering and sorrow. Thus we are shown into the inner mechanism of the heroine＇s conscience being forged by the tragedy. The textual analysis illuminates that the discourse of the heroine＇s inner drama is rich in imaginative power owing to a complex interweaving of traditional Christian phraseology and scientific one. |

| Abstract | Trail Making Test（TMT）は，ワーキングメモリや反応抑制，反応の切り替えなどの能力が求められる神経心理学的検査である。TMT は実行機能評価法の一つとして広く用いられているが，子どもを対象とした標準値の作成や臨床応用に関する報告はいまだ少ない。そこで本研究では，TMT の小児期から青年期までの各年齢群別標準値を作成するとともに，各指標の発達的変化について検討した。その結果，Part A の遂行時間，Part B の遂行時間，B－A 値およびB/A 値の４指標において年齢による有意な発達的変化が認められ，本検査は子どもの実行機能の発達の程度を反映しうるものと考えられた。本法は従来のTMT よりも刺激数を削減し簡便化したものであり，注意欠陥／動性障害などの発達障害をともなう子 どもへの臨床応用が期待される。 |

| Abstract | 近年，注意欠陥／多動性障害（AD／HD）への関心が高まり，病態解明を目的とした様々な報告が行われている。本論文では，まずAD／HDの概念の変遷を整理し，ついで，神経生理学，脳機能画像研究，神経心理学および分子生物学の領域における最近の研究の動向を概観し，AD／HDの病態と臨床症状との関連について考察した。SPECTやfMRIを用いた研究で前頭葉の低灌流や同部の反応性の低下などが報告されており，実行機能の障害との関連が指摘されている。また，分子生物学的研究では候補遺伝子として主にドーパミン受容体遺伝子（DRD4）やドーパミントランスポーター遺伝子（DAT1）が挙げられ，ドーパミン関連の障害に関する報告が数多くみられ，注意の障害や多動などの臨床症状との関連が指摘されている。また，その他の候補遺伝子に関する知見も数多く報告されており，今後臨床症状との対応の検討が望まれる。 |

| Abstract | 近年，自閉症の病態解明を目的とした神経生理学的研究，神経心理学的研究および脳機能画像研究などの脳の器質的，機能的障害を明らかにする試みと，分子生物学的研究により遺伝的要因を明らかにする試みが数多く報告されている。本論文は，急速に進歩を遂げているこれらの分野の最近の研究動向をとらえ，自閉症の病態との関連について考察することを目的とした。脳障害の部位や神経機構に関する報告では，前頭葉，側頭葉，大脳辺縁系（海馬，扇桃体，帯状回），小脳，脳幹部などの他，左右脳機能関連の問題，皮質･皮質下糸，感覚処理や認知機構などの異常が指摘されている。これらの障害部位と自閉症の臨床症状との関連について，社会性は左前頭連合野･帯状回および扇桃体が関連しており，固執性は右海馬および肩桃体が，また，儀式的･反復的行動には視床が関与していることが指摘されており，注目される。分子生物学的研究ではセロトニン系の関与が示唆されているが，臨床症状との関連も含め今後の検討が望まれる。 |

| Abstract | 発達障害児における神経心理学的検査の応用に関する研究は未だ乏しい。そこで注意欠陥多動性障害(ADHD)や自閉症などの発達障害の領域における神経心理学的検査実施の動向を調査し，その臨床応用について考察することを目的とした。ADHDや自閉症の原因として脳の中でも特に未解明な部分が多い前頭葉の機能が注目されている。そこで文献研究に基づいて， 前頭葉損傷がもたらす影響について明らかにし，さらに，前頭葉機能に焦点を当てているとされる各種神経心理学的検査の特性についての検討を行った。その結果，発達障害児を対象とした神経心理学的検査に求められる今後の課題として，小児における検査の標準化，実施法の簡便化，適用基準の明確化などが挙げられた。障害児教育の現場において個々の障害児の各種認知過程に関する正確な情報が必要とされているが，このような視点から神経心理学的検査の有用性について考察した。 |

| Abstract | 日本人は無宗教であると言われる。本研究では、大学生9名（男2人、女7人；平均年齢21.5歳）を対象に、宗教・信仰の実態を面接法で調査した。語り内容をKJ法で分析した結果、寺社参拝、あるいはおみくじやお守りを買うという形での宗教行動が見られ、また神霊の存在を認める発話もあった。こうした結果に対して、それとは矛盾した宗教観を報告する場合も見られた。これは､習俗として日常に埋没した宗教観は意識されていないことによるところが大きいためである。 |

| Abstract | The purpose of the present paper is to keep track on the process of Lydgate's moral decline in Middlemarch. His idealism as a medical doctor is observed to be inadequate in rescuing himself from his ruined marriage. His bitter conflict with Rosamond, his wife, is seen to be partly due to her self-absorption, and partly due to his unquestioning reliance on his professional capability. Eliot's penetrating insight into the causes of their marital unhappiness is in focus upon relevant textual analyses. The author's artistic use of a family of metaphors is seen as carefully planned to be organically integrated into the fictional structure. This is, in our view, the secret of success in producing a rich echo of resonance in her style. Thus the story of the protagonist's pride, suffering, and incomplete redemption is traced from a stylistic viewpoint. |

| Abstract | 本研究は，イラストを使った人間の行動とロボットの行動を比較することを通して，幼児期における他者の心の理解の発達を検討したものである。45人の幼児に，人間版とロボット版の誤信念課題と道徳判断課題を提示した。人間版とロボット版では，主人公が人間であるかロボットであるかの違い以外はすべて同じ状況で同じ行動とした。その結果，誤信念課題においては，ロボット版の方が人間版より得点が有意に低く，幼児は｢ロボットに対して，人間に対する時ほどには誤信念を考慮しない｣という傾向が明らかになった。道徳判断課題では，作為的な状況であれ不作為的な状況であれ，ロボットの行動と人間の行動の悪さの比較に差はなく，ロボットの行為に対しても，人間の行為に対してと同様の道徳判断をしたことが示唆された。 |

| Abstract | Continuous performance test(CPT)は，注意機構の評価に適する神経心理学的検査として用いられている。これまでにMirskyはCPTの課題遂行に被蓋，中脳橋網様体や視床が関与すると推測しているが，最近のPETやfMRIなどによる脳循環や代謝測定法に基づく知見を反映した見解ではない。そこで本稿では，これらの測定法に基づく注意機構の脳機能局在に関する研究を展望し，注意機構の諸要素にかかわる脳機能システムについて文献的検討を行った。その結果，CPT遂行には，視床のみならず，帯状回を含む前頭葉内側面，背外側面, 眼窩面および側頭葉におよぶ広汎な領域の関与が示唆された。 |

| Abstract | We have made a series of researches on the problems of Chinese students who want to obtain employment in Japan. Oka & Fukada [1994 a] tried to clarify the factors in decision-making of Chinese college students to get ajob in Japan, and our former study in 1996 examined the differences of consciousness between the students who want to work in China and those who want to work in Japan. In this study, we try to reveal the features of Chinese ex-students who studied in Japanese higher educational institutes, and have already had a job in Japan. Their features are found by comparing these exstudents with Chinese college students, vocational school students and Japanese language school students respectively. This paper has revealed that Chinese ex-students have better feeling towards the life in Japan and have more close Japanese friends than vocational or language school students have. These two factors are, however, not remarkable between ex-students and college students. These two are not decisive enough to induce Chinese students to get employed in Japan. Our present study has also clarified that only 23% of the Chinese exstudents want to stay long in Japan, while a certain research shows that more than half of the Chinese students who wish to get a job here want to work for more than ten years. We guess that the severer circumstances of the Japanese economy than they had originally expected have deprived many ex-students of their desire to keep on working in Japan. |

| Title Alternative | On the Factors Which Induce Chinese Students to Obtain Employment in Japan |

| Abstract | The present study examines the difference of consciousness between the two groups of Chinese students. The first group consists of the students who want to go back to China after their studies in Japan and to obtain employment in their own country. The second group is formed by the students who want to have a job in Japan when their studies are completed. We try to make a comparison between the consciouness of the two groups so that we can clarify the influencial factors on their decision to stay in Japan in order to obtain employment in Japanese enterprises. This paper has revealed that the following factors are remarkable among the second group: 1) experience of longer period of stay in Japan, 2) life under comparatively affluent circumstances, and 3) "friendly" feelings towards the Japanese society. Their wish to work in Japan seems to be closely related with their hope to keep on living in Japan. The former study, Oka & Fukada[1994a], supports the results of this study as far as the above factors 1) and 2) are concerned. The former study has no data on 3). As for "sex", one of the factors, the results of the two studies are contradictory. That is, the former study shows that "sex" is an influencial factor, while the present study says it is not. |

| Abstract | The present study examines the relation between the adjustment of Chinese students to the Japanese life and social support they need from others or various support they can give to others. Eighty Chinese students studying in Okayama prefecture at private expense responded to our questionaire. The former studies (Jou & Fukada [1995 a, 1995 b]) clarified that there was a negative relation between needed support of Chinese students and their adjustment or their satisfaction with campus life. Based upon the result of these studies, we predicted a negative relation between them also in the present study. Namely, we presupposed that the more support they needed, the less adjustment and the less satisfaction they would have. The present study, however, has revealed that there seems to be no relation between them. We also predicted a positive relation between the amount of support Chinese students can afford to others and their adjustment or their satisfaction with campus life. That is, we thought that the more support they could provide, the better adjustment and the more satisfaction they can have. The data obtained in this study have also revealed that there exists a positive relation in general between Chinese students' support providable to others and their adjustment or their satisfaction with campus life. Further analyses using subscores, however, indicate that every area or type of providable support does not necessarily have a positive relation with every area of adjustment or every area of satisfaction with campus life. Moreover, our study has revealed that there also exists a negative relation between them though in an extremely minor part. |

| Title Alternative | Sentiments of Chinese Over-Stayers toward Japan |

| Abstract | As of May 1, 1996, there are more than 8,400 over-stayers from the visa status "college student", and there are also about 19,900 from the visa status "pre--college student". Chinese occupy 77.4% and 83.8% among them respectively. This means that Chinese students have a stronger tendency than those from the other countries to choose illegal stay in Japan after their student visas have expired. In the present study, we would like to clarify the features of Chinese over-stayers who were once students in Japan by making comparisons with the sentiments toward Japan of Chinese ex-students working in Japan, of college students, of vocational school students and of Japanese language school students. This paper reveals the following interesting facts. They have less satisfaction with their life in Japan and have less friendly feelings toward the Japanese society than Chinese workers and college students have. As a result, only 17.4% of them want to stay longer in Japan, while 65.2% wish to live in the U.S.A or other free countries and districts. Their financial conditions can also explain the above result. Their conditions are better than those oflanguage school students, but are worse than those of workers. Smaller income than their expectation might induce them to give up their illegal over-stay in Japan. |
