Abstract The diffracted intensity of X-ray depends upon several physical and geometrical factors such as structure, multiplicity, absorption and Lorentzpolarization and measuring conditions such as time constant and scanning speed of detector on counter method[l]. For analyzing on the X-ray stress measurement, especially, profile shape of X-ray diffraction which is affected by geometrical factors such as absorption and Lorentz-polarization is very important. In order to eliminate these factors affecting the stress measured by using X-ray, the correcting factors were introduced and those theoretical values were calculated. After this theoretical calculation, it is found that as the half value breadth increases the difference between the stress measured by using X-ray and the corrected one becomes larger and larger under same measuring condition. When the ideal diffracted intensity of X-ray is assumed Cauchy distribution the measured stress depends upon measuring condition for same specimen, but it is independent of measuring condition in Gauss, distribution. Consequently, it is found that the stress measured by using X-ray must be corrected under each measuring condition and the method of correction is made clear and proved experimentally in this paper.

Abstract Practical utilization of ram type electrical discharge machining in uninflammable fluid has been expected in place of inflammable kerosine type fluid for unmanned operation in a workshop. The electrical discharge machining performance in deionized water is experimentally investigated on the basis of the analysis of the crater generated by a single pulse discharge. The experimental analysis makes it clear that the electrical discharge machining performance in deionized water is greatly affected by the electrode polarity. The metal removal rate in the normal polarity machining is higher than that in reverse polarity machining, while the electrode wear rate in the normal polarity machining is greater than that in reverse polarity machining. Therefore the electrode polarity should be properly selected according to the purpose of machining.

Abstract This paper analyses an English text in ternlS of major English text patterns, general-specific, claim-counterclainl/hypothetical-real and problem-solution, by making use of 'signaling vocabulary' that has the role of indicating the functional segments of the patterns. The results, by supporting a discourse role of signaling vocabulary, exhibited a mix of the three patterns, with some kind of a variation from a typical pattern, in the overall and subordinate structures. At the same time the analysis made clear that some vocabulary items, such as superordinates and advance labels, have a discourse marking role and help create the text patterns. The results suggest discourse-based vocabulary teaching can be used for raising students' awareness of English text patterns.

Abstract Electrical resistance and X-ray photoelectron depth profile analysis are studied for antimony doped tin oxide films developed on silica, alkali-free and sodalime slide glass substrates. The sodium ions diffused from the substrates to the films prevented the crystal growth of rutile type tin oxide in the film, resulting in the high electrical resistance. A diffusion layer has been detected for each film with diffuse profiles of multi valent cations (Sn, Si or Ca) at the interface of the tin oxide film and substrate. A greater amount of sodium atoms have been detected in the film developed on the soda-lime glass while almost no sodium atoms have been found in those on the other substrates. This can be explained by the diffusion of the sodium ions in the substrate due to a drastic hydronium-sodium exchange mechanism under highly acidic conditions during the dipping and drying processes.

Abstract A study lesson dealing with the detergent concept was carried out at an upper secondary school in Cambodia after a number of teaching materials concerning with detergent were prepared for classroom activities. Through the pre-/post tests and questionnaires responded by students, the lesson study was evluated high appreciation and satisfactory. The activities prepared in the lesson study were applicable by students. It is also recommended that it can be appropriately introduced as part of curriculum at upper secondary schools in Cambodia and other developing countries which required teaching materials.

Abstract The loading and residual stresses measured by using X-ray stress measurment depend on diffraction plane. In order to make clear its cause, the several models on elastic and plastic deformations are developed and the theoretical values are compared with measured ones. It was found that the dependencies of measured stress on the diffraction plane can be explaned by accepting Reuss's model for elastic deformation and Taylor's model for plastic deformation.

Abstract We tried to look at the allocation techniques in plant layout from the point of view of decision making theory. And it was made clear that Laplace, Minimax and Hurwicz princilpe can be applied to the allocation techniques. The techniques based on these principles were called Laplace method, Minimax method and Hurwicz method. In this paper algorithms and computer programs of these methods were described in order to solve the layout problems effectively.

Abstract In this paper, we mentioned the apparatus developed to measure CFFs at the various point of the retina. Eleven CFFs measured at the central retina of both eyes (used usually} simultaneously, at the central retina of each eye separately, and at four points of the peripheral retina of each eye were analyzed together and referred to as the multi-point critical flicker fusion frequency (MCFF) . MCFF can be used to estimate the level of cortex activity, since the temporal and nasal parts of each eye are connected to different visual cortexes through the optic nerve. As the apparatus used to measure the MCFF was controlled by a micro-computer, the order of measurements and the calculation were done automatically.
