Title Alternative A Study on Influence of Current Velocity on Phytoplankton

Abstract The main problems caused by eutrophication result from the increase of phytoplankton. Therefore, controlling the increase of phytoplankton is the most important. In this study, we discuss the influence of current velocity on the growth of phytoplankton based on the field experiments and laboratory experiments. The laboratory experiments for the influence of current velocity on the growth have been conducted using circular channels, and the field experiments were conducted using a shallow pond. The results of the experiments show current velocity inhibits the growth of phytoplankton.

Abstract The effects of aluminum (Al) on the cytotoxicity of ferrous iron (Fe(Ⅱ)), copper(Cu) and cadmium(Cd) were studied. Log-phase cells were treated with either FeSO4,CuSO4, or CdCl2 in the presence or absence of AlCl3(120μM) for 18h at pH 4.0. After the treatment, the viability was determined as relative growth of the metal-treated cells to the untreated control cells during the post-treated culture. A single treated with either Al, Fe(Ⅱ) or Cd did not inhibit the growth at the metal concerntrations up to 300 μM, 200 μM and 500 μM, respectively, whereas the growth was markedly inhibited at 15 μM Cu. Thus,the cells were relatively insensitive to Al, Fe(Ⅱ) and Cd and sensitive to Cu. When cells were treated with both Fe(Ⅱ)(120 μM)and Al(120μM), the growth was significantly inhibited and the cellular contents of both Al and Fe increased synergistically. After the treatment with Cu(0 to 10 μM) with or without Al, the cells grew more vigorously when they were treated in the presence of Al, althrouh the Cu content of the cells were not alterd by Al. The presence of Al during the treatmemt with Cd(0 to 2 μM) had no effect on the degree of growth inhibition by Cd. Thus, Al interacts with the toxicity of Fe(Ⅱ), Cu and Cd in different manners; synergistic with Fe(Ⅱ), antagonistic with Cu and apparently no effeco on Cd.

Abstract 学校給食は児童・生徒を対象に教育の一環として実施されるようになり50年近くが経過した。現在、小学校では対象児童の99.4%にあたる718万人が、中学校では対象生徒の82.5%にあたる309万人が学校給食を受けており、学校給食が子どもたちの食生活の一部として定着した感がある。その一方で、埼玉県北葛飾郡鷲宮町議会では、「戦後60年を経た現在、学校給食はこの間十分その役割を果たし、見直しの時期に来ているものと判断する」(決議文より)として2005(平成17)年9月、「学校給食に弁当の日を設けることについて」という決議案が出され、それに対して反発した保護者たちが約7,000人の反対署名を議会と町教育委員会に提出したものの、賛成10、反対8で否決され、2006(平成18)年4月より「弁当の日」が設けられ、実施されるに至った。学校給食法が公布された時代とは食環境が大きく様変わりした現在において、学校給食が持つ使命を果たすために、「学校給食実施基準」第2条「学校給食は、当該学校に在学するすべての児童又は生徒に対し実施されるものとする」の見直しが必要であるのかどうか、検討する。

Title Alternative Instructional Competence of Teachers in Lessons: With Focus on the View of Children and View of Learning Support Materials

Abstract Recently the concept of "instruction" faces much confusion. New view of student archievement, which advocates self-initiated learning and independent decision-making, strongly emphasizes spontaneity or responding to individuals. This inevitably implies the need of passive approach such as "to watch for", "to understand and accept" and "support" by teachers. On the other hand, introduction of the period for integrated studies and reduction of class hours of academic subjects triggered fears of decline of student achievement among parents as well as teachers. For those who see the bottom-line of school education as acquisition of the basis and the fundamentals, instruction means nothing but training to master the basics and to acquire the fundamentals. However, it doesn't imply that instruction should go between "watch for" and "training". Rather teaching should establish the interactive, responstive relationships between a teacher and students and the learning materials should be envisaged and prepared as something that help develop capacity of understanding and expression of children. In this sense, the learning materials provide a crucial framework when integration of instruction and learning is the issue.
