| 抄録 | Turkey has been undergoing very important economic and social changes since several decades such as economic growth, privatization of state enterprises, liberalization, and integration with the EU, and legislative reforms. All sectors in Turkey and production levels are affected by these changes during the years. Crop production in agriculture is one of the most affected sectors. Many policies by governmental/nongovernmental organizations have been applied and supported for the development of the sector such as modernization, mechanization, irrigation, road constructions, potable water, financial supports, agricultural insurance, and technical supports. Therefore, the main purpose of this paper is to look back and analyze the trend of agricultural changes, land use and related production levels in Turkey. |

| 抄録 | We examined and compared the inhibitory effects of D-tagatose on the growth, acid production, and water-insoluble glucan synthesis of GS5, a bacterial strain of Streptococcus mutans, with those of xylitol, D-psicose, L-psicose and L-tagatose. GS5 was cultured for 12h in a medium containing 10ｵ (w/v) of xylitol, D-psicose, L-psicose, D-tagatose or L-tagatose, and the inhibitory effect of GS5 growth was assessed. Each sugar showed different inhibitory effects on GS5. Both D-tagatose and xylitol significantly inhibited the acid production and water-insoluble glucan synthesis of GS5 in the presence of 1ｵ (w/v) sucrose. However, the inhibitory effect of acid production by D-tagatose was significantly stronger than that of xylitol in presence of sucrose. |

| 抄録 | Zenker's diverticulum is a very rare disease among gastorointestinal diverticulum. We report a case of Zenker's diverticulum successfully treated with diverticulectomy and cricophalyngial myotomy. A 71-year-old male complained of aspirating water for two years. He was diagnosed as Zenker's diverticulum. Due to his severe symptoms, the operation was performed in an open-neck approach. The left recurrent laryngeal nerve was identified and preserved. An incision was made in the diverticulum wall, and the internal diameter of normal cervical esophagus was measured. The diverticulum was then excised with an automatic suture device in the minor axis direction of the esophagus. A cricopharyngeal myotomy was conducted, because this muscle was fibrotic and stiffened. The patient's symptoms disappeared after the operation. Diverticulectomy and cricopharyngeal myotomy through an open-neck approach is a safe and reliable method that follows, direct access to the diverticulum and recurrent laryngeal nerve. |
