| 抄録 | It has long been considered that central nervous system would not regenerate after injury, but this concept has recently been changing due to the development of neuroscience research. Cell grafting, gene transfer and neurotrophic factor administration into the brain and spinal cord are the examples of methods to perform protection and repair. These techniques are expected to be applied to certain neurological disorders such as Parkinson's disease, cerebral ischemia and spinal cord injury. Parkinson's disease is a progressive neurodegenerative disorder characterized by the loss of dopaminergic neurons in the nigrostriatal system. Fetal neurons, chromaffin cells, cell lines, certain genes, neural stem cells, ES cells and bone marrow cells have been investigated as donor cells and vectors to treat Parkinson's disease. This review will summarize the history of neural transplantation in Parkinson's disease and features and prospects of each donor will be discussed. |

| 抄録 | This study evaluate the effects of an intervention package, including non-contingent reinforcement(NCR), to reduce severe problem behaviors of a student with autism and mental retardation in the daily program of a special needs school. Prioritizing the practicality of assessment and intervention procedures, we relied on interview and direct observation to identify the function of the problem behaviors and selected a maintained reinforcer that was easily delivered among alternatives. In Intervention 1, NCR was provided, with extinction (EXT) and contingent response to communicative behaviors(CR). In Intervention 2, visual schedule and peer mediated strategy, in addition to NCR, EXT, and CR, were introduced. Reduction of the problem behaviors occured following Intervention 1, and more substantial occurred following Intervention 2. Additionally, increases in class participation were noticeable after Intervention 2. Additionally, increases in class participation were noticeable after Intervention 2 was implemented. On the basis of these results, we discussed practical ways of implementing NCR interventions in school settings where controlling environments is typically difficult. |

| 抄録 | Air pollution caused by suspended particulate matter (SPM) has increased remarkedly in industrial areas, and this has become an emergency issue in the global environment. Atomospheric SPM influences the local ecosystem including various plants and animals. It is necessary to examine the distribution characteristics of such trace metals in fine particulates (especially those with a diameter (φ) of less than 2.1μm). The Environment Agency of the Japanese goverment will complete analysis of the a concentration of suspended particulate matter less than 2.4μm by the end of 1999, and will be examining the relationship between the concentration of suspended particulate matter (0.1-9.0μm) with consideration given to the particle size throughout two years. It became clear that the metals of artificial origin such as Pb, V, Cd, Ni, Cr, existed in fine particulates (0.1 or more 2.0μm). By contrast, the metals of natural origin, such as Ti, Mn, Mg, Sr, mainly existed in coarse Area in Japan. |
