Vectorcardiographic changes were analysed in 46 patients with essential hypertension (A-group) following the antihypertensive treatments. Twenty-eight patients with hypertension without effects of the treatments (B-group) were also studied as comparison. Magnitude of the T maximum vector was not decreased in all planes and was increased in the horizontal plane in A-group in 39.9%. Magnitude of the spatial QRS maximum vector was unchanged and that of the spatial T maximum vector was increased after treartment; so that the QRS/T was decreased in the A-group. Direction of the QRS maximum vector showed no changes after treatment. That of the T maximum vector showed no changes in the frontal plane and was shifted inferiorly in the horizontal plane in many of the A-group. QRS-T angle was decreased and T loop became narrow after treatment.
