According to this shared conception, the descriptive analysis consists in the articulation of the multilayered part-whole structure of consciousness. Focusing on the problem of intentional reference, we show how they, to carry out descriptive analyses thus defined, make different distinctions among parts of consciousness. We further show how such a difference is closely connected to the two philosophersf views on the nature of intentional reference. en-copyright= kn-copyright= en-aut-name=UemuraGenki en-aut-sei=Uemura en-aut-mei=Genki kn-aut-name= kn-aut-sei= kn-aut-mei= aut-affil-num=1 ORCID= affil-num=1 en-affil=Graduate School of Humanities and Social Sciences, Okayama University kn-affil= en-keyword=Brentano kn-keyword=Brentano en-keyword=Husserl kn-keyword=Husserl en-keyword=Descriptive Psychology kn-keyword=Descriptive Psychology en-keyword=Phenomenology kn-keyword=Phenomenology en-keyword= Method kn-keyword= Method en-keyword=Consciousness kn-keyword=Consciousness en-keyword=Intentionality kn-keyword=Intentionality en-keyword=Parts and Wholes kn-keyword=Parts and Wholes en-keyword=Existential Dependence kn-keyword=Existential Dependence END
