1) On the blood of sixteen different kinds of animals (i.e. human, dog, rat, rabbit, cow, guinea-pig, pigeon, hen, tortoise, toad, frog, carp. catfish, gibel, caudina chilensis and Arca granosa), I maped up the calibration curves for the Hartrige Reversion Spectroscope, which is conveniently constmoted to he estimated the ratio of carbon monoxide haemoglobin to oxy-haemoglobin in blood. 2) The carbon monoxide neither combine with chlorophyll a or b, nor affect Euglena viridis, bnt it exerts harmful influence upon the higher animals: for example the rabbit can not free itself from death when the blood is 55-56-57 per cent. saturated with carbon monoxide.
